Lycaons Den

Lycaon looked around at the camp survaying the damage done by the famine and a small tear falls down his face, looking at the lush den that he used to share with his family, he feels that he can no longer enter it. For the saddness that entering it would bring would be to much for him to bear. So he walked on until he found another small dark den that seemed unused and had enough room for him. He smiled this place suited him, maybe someday he'd return with a mate and cubs to his old family den or maybe someone would take it over but in the mean time, he curled up in the den overlooking the forest, he would rest here until it was time to hunt.

The male trailed along the den sites -- so many that had once held families and beloved pack members within, now only offered darkness and silence. His eyes strayed to Jazzik's old den, and he felt his heart wrench. Turning his muzzle away, the tawny male continued along his path, coming across the scent of Lycaon.

His green eyes looked upon the den the Hunter had once called home, and with the realization the wolf was probably relocating, his nimble paws picked up the trail of the scent, his pace quickening until the silver wolf came to view. "Lycaon," he murmured in greeting, his tail sweeping behind him morosely. "I see you've resettled." He need not question why -- the remaining members of Shrouded Forest would need to rebuild.. and it would be hard.

Lycaon looked up at his Alpha and nodded slowly. "Yes Alpha," He said dipping his nose as a sign of respect to his leader. "This den suited me more."

Taking a deep breath in Lycaon stood, gave himself a little shake and smiled at his Alpha but only really half a smile that Lycaon could usually give. He sighed and said. "There is much rebuilding to be done, and I think my place now would be out hunting. Would you join me Alpha?" He asked this question quietly. His reason for asking was knowing that the Alpha to had lost family and a good run while gathering fresh kill would probably lift both there spirits.

The male cast eye to him, and briefly, Prosper wondered what Lycaon thought of his rise to Alpha. What was done was done though, and the golden wolf could only hope he would be a deserving leader as his brother and father before him had.

offering a quiet nod at the Hunter's words regarding the suitability, he knew he would have done the same in Lycaon's paws. Prosper had not shared his den before, and so relocating would solve nothing for the male at the time.

Yet a hunt would, and the regal wolf accepted the offer graciously. "Yes, the cache's could use a stock up," he decided, eager to ease the tension from his muscles with a good run. The remaining members of the pack would at least have full bellies, if empty hearts.

The black hunter trotted over the thin grass, her odd eyes survaying the dying land. Hanging limply from her bloody mussel was the remains of a scrawny rabbit, its fur out in palces and the little meat that did hang from it's bones were nothing more than a mouth full. Even though Atreill was underweight due to the absent of hunters, she still won't eat until everyone was fed themselves. Pushing herself to provide for the remaining of the pack, wanting to prove to the elders that even though she was weak and was new, she could help the pack.

The scent of the rest of the pack was weak in her nose, the famine had wiped out all her friends and all she knew. It was difficult for her to accept, all that was good had been snapped out of her reach again. All the dreaming of being raised in a tightly knoted pack and the prospect of having pups of her own could enlighten any female, and had been in her reach. The black female came into veiw of the Alpha and Hunter, her blue and grey eye a simple torch light on a black shaodw in the doorway for the cave. The sweet scent of blood filled the air and the thin hunter lightly layed down the small prize before the males, making sure her eyes never met their own. "Supplement for thee, Alpha and for thee too Hunter" The small female said in a shaky voice, that tried so hard to stay even. "If you need any more help with anything, just ask" She said queitly, nodding her head slowly.

Lycaon nodded and said "Good," going to step ahead of his Alpha and take the lead when he paused and remembered, snorting silently to himself he stopped and said, bowing his head as a sorry. "You may go first Alpha."

It was hard for Lycoan to speak to Prosper as Alpha and harder still to think of him that way. He had been for so long accustomed to having Prosper as a friend and not as a leader. But now that he was and Lycaon would serve him just as well as all the Alphas before him.

Hearing Atriells request he looked to the Alpha for confirmation for he would love to have her join the hunt. The more hunters they had the bigger prey that they could catch.

The scent of blood mingled in the air just as the two discussed the means of a hunt, and lifting his muzzle up to better smell the direction of it, instead he caught gaze of the dark figure of Atreill. The measly portion within her muzzle still warmed his heart, and side stepping the opffer so she may give it to Lycaon -- the Alpha would not eat until he saw his pack mates fed first -- he gave a nod to the bi-toned she-wolf.

"We were just on our way to begin a hunt.. Care to join us?" Indeed, three was a far better number than two for larger game, and they would likely be more successful this way.

Lycaon blinked in surprise that Prosper would let him eat first and graceously took the meat from Atreill. He hadn't eaten properly since well, last fall but neither had any of them so he ate greatfully and nodded his thanks to Atreill. Saying " I owe you one." and giving her a small wolf wink.

The black wolf slowly nodded her head in acceptance, even though she was tired, all three of them could take down something big enough for them all to feast upon for many days. The female felt her heart bust ageinst her chest as the alpha adressed her, she felt like s pesent meeting the king and it gave out a luxurious warm feeling in her chest. Keeping careful not to meet his eyes, the shy black wolf gave out a small whimper. "It would be my pleasure to hunt beside such a worthy alpha" Atreill couldn't hold back the exsitment in her voice, hunting beside the alpha could open a lot of doors for her, even more if she could become friends with him.

The Black female bowed to the other hunter and slowly sinked back from the doorway of the cave, leaving it open for the alpha to lead the way. "For where should we find this prey?"

Unused to such attentions, Prosper was uncertain on how to take her words, so rather than respond, the tawny wolf politely dipped his muzzle. Awaiting Lycaon to finish the small meal, his tail gave an idle flick as he studied the lands before him -- so familiar, and yet now so barren.

As the two seemed readied, the golden wolf gave a silent motion of his muzzle, prowling forward and beginning to lead the two to the forest of which the pack was named after. The herds had returned, and he could only hope they would find a meal that would benefit the entire pack.

EXIT PROSPER

Lycaon nodded, quickly finishing his meal and followed Prosper. Thinking, this should be an interesting hunt. Looking at Atreill he hoped that he would learn more about her now. Rolling his shoulders he mentally readied himself for the up coming hunt and gave off a wolfie smile.

Exit Lycaon

Atreill watched the alpha with courious eyes, she had always woundered what it would be like to have a whole pack of wolves at your feet, doing every word you asked of them. Almost in a trance of thoughts, she came back to see the alpha already walking out of the den, followed by a very much joker type hunter, his smile never leaving his face. Even though her leags were weak and exhaused, she followed with a spring in her step, for she knew that the pack might eat tonight if they had luck on their side.
